Brave Minnesotans around the state Plunge into frozen water to raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota as part of the 2013 Polar Bear Plunge. In 2012, more than 14,000 participants took the icy dip and raised more than $2.85 million for Special Olympics Minnesota. Coordinated by law enforcement, the 16 Polar Bear Plunge events statewide provide fun-loving adrenaline junkies an opportunity to be “freezin’ for a reason” — and to have a blast in the process. Special Olympics Minnesota offers year-round sports training and competition to more than 7,100 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
