As the temperatures drop and the wind speed picks up, UMD Athletics continues to plan events to make the winter months lively. UMD offers the Big Jig Ice Fishing Contest. The Big Jig has established itself as the area’s largest ice fishing events.

With nearly $50,000 in prizes for the top 100 fish, UMD Athletics has an event to prove Northlanders have the constitution to live in a cold Duluth winter.

The Big Jig will take place on Pike Lake off Midway Road
