Atrium Gallery

Michael Schmidt’s paintings explore the often overlooked beauty of the urban landscape. Schmidt is inspired by the anonymous street corner, a water tower perched atop a warehouse, and the silhouetted form of a power line against an evening sky. These urban subjects are just the starting point for Schmidt as he explores composition, color, texture, and rhythm through layers of thickly applied oil paint.
The Atrium Gallery is located in the Bloomington Center for the Arts at 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington, MN. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
