Three Bridges International Chamber Music Festival announces its fifth annual concert series. Concerts start at 7:30 pm in Weber Hall on the UMD campus. Pre-concert talks begins at 6:30pm.
Sunday, June 2: "Folklore and Storytellers" features the Duluth Premiere of Béla Bartók’s 1937 Sonata for Two Pianos, Percussion by Béla Bartók, and Ginastera’s first String Quartet.
Saturday, June 8: "Sturm und Drang: Giants Upon the Earth" highlights two tenors and a guest soprano singing arias by Verdi and Wagner for the 200th birthday celebration of both composers and the Three Bridges faculty string quartet performing Beethoven’s remarkable String Quartet no. 14, op. 131.
Thursday, June 13: "Journeys Over Land and Sea "features Festival artists performing a String Quartet by Benjamin Britten, Dvorák’s first Piano Quartet, and the rarely heard Piano Quintet by Sibelius.
Friday, June 14: "Alpine Sanctuary" offers Brahms’ incredible String Quintet, op. 111, Verdi’s beautiful and rarely played String Quartet, Mozart’s second Piano Quartet, and a Clarinet Trio by late romantic composer Alexander von Zemlinsky.
