An accomplished concert pianist with over 30 years of teaching experience, Mila Belakova was born in a Russian city of Orenburg in the South of the Ural Mountains. At the age of 5 she made her first steps in music, and that turned out to be the beginning of a lifelong exciting journey. She received her degree in music from one of the oldest music colleges in the country, where she was trained in the best traditions of the Russian performance school, her teacher being the student of one of Tchaikovsky's students. Since moving to Rapid City in 2007, she has been teaching piano and music theory, accompanying different orchestra instruments, choirs, and classical ballet dance classes as well as playing solo concerts for the communities across South Dakota and in Washington, D.C. Her thorough and thoughtful instruction helped her students receive numerous awards for outstanding performance and brought her several teaching recognition prizes. Her repertoire includes many of the most renowned classical masterpieces and a lot of beautiful pieces by Russian composers yet little known to the American audience.
