Merle Haggard, often considered the single most influential singer/songwriter in country music history, will make a special appearance with his longtime band the Strangers at the State Theatre. His return Minneapolis engagement follows Haggard’s sold-out concert with Kris Kristofferson in July 2012 at the State Theatre. He was elected to the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1977, the Country Hall of Fame in 1994, received Kennedy Center Honors in 2010 and was selected as #77 on Rolling Stone’s list of the top 100 artists of all time. An opening act will be announced later. Haggard will be performing on July 19 at 8 o'clock PM
