The Guthrie Theater presents a Black Label Movement production of Wreck, choreographed and directed by Carl Flink with original music by Mary Ellen Childs.
In Black Label Movement's riveting Wreck, 13 survivors caught in the hold of a fast sinking ship grapple with seemingly inevitable destruction. Plunging towards an emotional event horizon where violence and cooperation, obsession and compassion, and fear and tenderness meet, the work asks how a community of strangers might face the Abyss. Created by 2012 McKnight Choreography Fellow Carl Flink and set to an original score by local composer Mary Ellen Childs, Wreck is a visceral feast for both eyes and ears.
Dance Magazine declared, Wreck delivers "the combination of buoyant athleticism and feral intensity that is a hallmark of Flink's style. . . . [I]t's like watching a display of cascading fireworks."
Seating in the Dowling Studio is general admission and begins 30 minutes before curtain.
