    One of New Ulm's biggest celebration happens mid-July every year. A German-American music festival, it features all sorts of music, including German-style bands, old-time, rock and country music. Plenty of food and drink options appeal to all tastes. Stein holding contest, sauerkraut eating competition, barrel rolling, souvenir sales, a 5k/10k, Polka Service on Sunday morning, and the Bavarian Blast Parade make this a highlight of travel to Minnesota!

    Thursday's "pre-blast" event features classic rock acts. Four bands, including the Fabulous Armadillos, perform beginning at 4:30pm.

    New Ulm will be hosting the third annual Community-Wide Garage Sale June 2-3, 2017. New Ulm residents are encouraged to hold their own garage sales or yard sales, and to patronize sales held throughout the city that weekend. The weekend has been advertised on the state-wide listing of city-wide garage sales.

    This is the third annual community-wide garage sale which takes place the first full weekend in June. This sale is not associated with the annual City-Wide Indoor Garage sale at the Civic Center. There is no formal structure to this operation. Please direct any questions to the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce.

    Come to one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the nation! This traditional festival is modeled after one of the world’s largest celebrations, held each year for several centuries in Munich, Germany. New Ulm’s version takes place during the first two full weekends in October, with festivities happening all over town! The main locations for Oktoberfest in 2017 are Historic Downtown, Best Western Plus, and Schell’s Brewery.

    Oktoberfest is a joint festival of the New Ulm Best Western Plus, the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, and Schell's Brewery. The Best Western Plus' event features musical entertainment, including New Ulm's Concord Singers and a variety of bands, German goods for sale, and plenty of food and drink. Downtown will feature both German old-time music and contemporary popular bands both Saturdays, with plenty of food and drink available. Schell's Brewery will have music, food and drink the 2nd Saturday.

    In the middle of New Ulm, on a full block for the Turner Hall organization, they will have a variety of old-time and brass bands performing all afternoon. The area is a grassy lawn with two stages under mature shade trees.

    Leading up a gentle incline of Loretto Park is a "Way of the Cross." Its 14 stations were built by The Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ in 1904. The exquisite statuary for the stations was imported from Bavaria. This century-old historic site is open to the public.

    New in 2007, adjacent to the Way of the Cross entrance, is a small park honoring pioneer Catholic priest, Father Alexander Berghold. The park contains a full-size statue of him, benches, flowers, and panels that describe his works.
