    Crawl for a Cure is an annual event held at Minnesota's first Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area in Gilbert. Families, couples and individuals who love their off-road vehicles (any type can participate) take part in two days of riding, an evening get-together at Sherwood Forest Campground in Gilbert, and a whole lot of fun. All proceeds go to the National Muscular Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter.

    The long weekend of events pay tribute to the longtime town doctor who enjoyed a short stint in Major League Baseball, unbeknownst to many he served. This served as the inspiration for a character of the same name in the W.P. Kinsella novel “Shoeless Joe,” which became the major motion picture “Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Costner, where Doc was portrayed by Burt Lancaster.     The Eveleth 4th of July celebration is fun for all ages with a street dance on July 3rd from 8:30pm-1am and fireworks "Thunder over Eveleth" at 10:15pm. On July 4th, there is a parade at 9:30am with kids games and races following.

    Tour an active mine in this 2-hour adventure onto Hibbing Taconite's operation. Board the bus from Minnesota Discovery Center. A tour guide will join you for the ride among huge production trucks, near giant shovels, and over minelands. This tour is for ages 10 and up. Cost of $13 per person includes admission to Minnesota Discovery Center. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 218-254-7959.

    The Wilcox Family Fiddlers, Sheila, Aaron and Andrew, will share their fiddle music with some classical surprises thrown in! Sheila, orchestra director at Virginia High School, has a masters in music education and has been a member of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, the Mesabi Symphony Orchestra and many other musical groups. She considers herself a classical stiff who likes to fiddle around.
    Her sons, Aaron and Andrew attended Virginia High School and both young men have studied music and orchestra and received superior ratings for their performances. Sheila, Aaron and Andrew each won Fiddle championships in their age division at last summer’s MN State Old Time Fiddle Contest. They will be playing from hoedowns and reels to rags and waltzes.

    The B’nai Abraham Museum and Cultural Center seeks to preserve and share the history and heritage of the region’s Jewish people at the site of the last operating synagogue on the Iron Range. The church is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
