    Annie was the longest resident at Scandia's Gammelgården - "small farm". We celebrate her tradition of a Coffee Party each 2nd Saturday September through December. A 3-course Swedish coffee party is a perfect way to celebrate birthdays, Red Hat outings, a family get together, or a special treat for yourself and a friend!
    *Learn about life in Minnesota as a Swedish immigrant
    and find out about Swedish history and culture
    *Guided tour of the 5 historic buildings is included September and October. November and December Coffee Parties share in a history discussion with the Museum Director.

    Girls ages 6-96 are invited to a fancy tea party with your doll! There will be stories, games, dances, crafts, music centered around historical information of the mid 1800’s. Special Christmas teas will include the legend and celebration of Lucia. It will be a fun afternoon for girls of all ages!

    Step back in time to the 1850's with Immigrant Inspired Family Events held at the old, small farm known as Gammelgården Museum. We provide family friendly, free activities, games or crafts from the 1850's on our grounds among the 5 historic buildings that make up the old (gammel) small farm (gården). Experience life on an immigrant farm on Sunday May 29 from 1:00 to 4:00. This is a free event for families.

    Gammelgården Museum continues the Swedish tradition of Lucia Day with a brief Swedish prayer service in our historic Gammel Krykan (oldest surviving Lutheran Sanctuary in Minnesota) followed by a Swedish breakfast buffet and Lucia program featuring the Svenskarnasdag Choir in the community center across the street. Plenty of free parking. Church service is chilly so dress warmly!

    Spend Midsommar Dag among Gammelgården's Historic Buildings in the beautiful St Croix Valley. "Immigrant inspired" Children's Activities in and around our historic buildings from 10:30-12:30. Then watch as we raise the Majstång. Join in the folk dancing and sit back to enjoy entertainers all starting at 1:00. Food Sales available in the Gazebo. A Swedish Smörgåsbord available up the hill at Elim church. Historic buildings free and open to public. Bring lawn chairs to enjoy this festival in the shaded lawn of the "small farm" that is Gammelgården Museum.

    Running of the Meatballs is a unique and hilarious downhill race of thousands of “meatballs” (brown painted golf balls). It is not only fun to watch but an important fundraiser for the museum’s ongoing historic building renovation projects. Tickets are $5 apiece or $20 for 5 and can be purchased in the gift shop or from a roaming ticket seller before the race that starts shortly before the Taco Daze parade. The meatballs are released and roll wildly down Oak Hill Road into the chute. Prizes are awarded to the first 10 balls down the hill.

    Fiddlers - Calling all fiddlers! Gammelgården celebrates the Immigrant Fiddle - important in many immigrant cultures. Join us to participate and/or appreciate this Annual festival called Spelmanstämma! (Spelman-fiddler and stämma-gathering) Musicians, dancers, crafts and food. All outside amid 1850's Swedish historic log buildings. Join the fun. Bring your own instrument. Activities for children. Artists and vendors.
