Nearly 200 bird species recorded annually during the spring migration in a unique transition zone of tall-grass prairie, northern hardwood & conifer forests. Field trips, workshops, socials, exhibitors. To kick off the 15th annual festival, Carrol Henderson, MN DNR, will return to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge with his presentation on Trumpeter Swans. Henderson was instrumental in the reintroduction of the Trumpeter Swan 25 years ago, with the release of the birds at Tamarac Refuge. Featured presenter in 2012 is John Marzluff, with his innovative studies on human face recognition in crows. A professor at the University of Washington, his books include "Dog Days Raven Nights, In the Company of Crows and Ravens, and The Gift of the Crow."
