Spring Grove Minnesota is nestled in the picturesque southeast corner of the state with abundant wildlife and amazing topography in addition to our emphasis on the arts and the celebration of our heritage. The Syttende Mai celebration is held each year on the weekend closest to May 17. Events pay homage to our Norwegian-American culture and celebrate the deep roots our ancestors put down so long ago in the state's first Norwegian settlement.

Thanks maybe to something mythical, the sky cleared up and remained beautiful from PARADE time Saturday until 4pm on SUNDAY, then the tornado warnings went off but luckily we had only winds and rain and shortly resumed our evening concert! What a great FEST weekend it was.

A well put together celebration with something for young and old!! Spring Grove is truly a beautiful town and the area is worth the trip from wherever you are to see and experience!

I grew up here, lived away and am now back - which is the story for a lot of Spring Grove residents. Once you visit, it's imprinted in your heart. Syttende Mai is a perfect time to stroll the streets where the first Minnesota Norwegian settlers walked. And if you're not Norwegian, you'll still fall in love with it's peacefulness, friendly people and artistic offerings.

Spring Grove is a terrific little city bursting with Norwegian-American culture. It is a welcoming place with family-friendly events planned during the annual Syttende Mai celebration. Even if you're not Norske, you just might learn a bit of Norwegian language or become a fan of rommegrot after a visit!
