Year-RoundMultiple Grammy nominations and five Grammy-winning efforts define Randy Brecker as one of today’s greatest trumpet players. Equally recognized in the bebop world of jazz and as an innovator of jazz fusion, Randy is part of everyone’s “dream horn section.” His early days were spent recording and touring with the likes of Blood, Sweat and Tears, Billy Cobham, Stevie Wonder and Yoko Ono before the formation of his own band in 1975 with his brother Michael. Their debut album “The Brecker Brothers” was written, produced and arranged by Randy and was nominated for four Grammy’s. The brothers released six albums between 1975 and 1981 garnering seven Grammy nominations. The brothers parted in 1982, then hooked up again in 1992 releasing “The Return of the Brecker Brothers” nominated for three Grammy Awards. Two Grammy’s were earned for their 1994 disc, “Out of the Loop”; and single Grammy’s came for his third solo album, “Into the Sun” in 1998, “34th n’ Lex” in 2003, and a fifth from “Randy in Brazil” in 2009. The JazzMN Orchestra welcomes a living legend.
