Year-RoundThe Guthrie WorldStage Series presents
Propeller’s productions of
Twelfth Night
in repertory with
The Taming of the Shrew
by William Shakespeare
directed by Edward Hall
This season the Guthrie welcomes internationally acclaimed Propeller to present Twelfth Night in repertory with The Taming of the Shrew, two comedies full of mistaken identities, transformations and deception. Well known for communicating the genius of Shakespeare with a distinctive physical approach including the use of an all-male company, Propeller presents Shakespeare with clarity, speed and imagination. Britain’s The Stage raved, “Propeller makes Shakespeare feel sharp, contemporary and urgent without skimping on the language or cutting corners. And for young audiences, I can’t imagine a more exciting introduction to our greatest dramatist.”
"This is Twelfth Night - but not as you know it."
"The essence of the show is innovation and surprise, yet through it all Shakespeare's tale of love, deception, betrayal, mistaken identity and debauchery shines through with perfectly enunciated dialogue and exquisitely expressed emotion ... Excitingly original, brilliantly inventive, thrilling and very fast moving." - British Theatre Guide
"Propeller has once again served up a delicious cocktail of Shakespeare with a twist. Bitter but playful, this production is utterly beautiful to watch." - What's Onstage, U.K.
