Promoting Tourism Through Grouse Hunting
There is an average of over 90,000 grouse hunters in Minnesota each year. These hunters vary from resident to non-resident traveling across the state from Grand Rapids, to Ely, to Duluth or Bemidji.
According to the 2011 USFWS Survey of Hunting, Fishing and Wildlife Recreation; total expenditures by Minnesota residents on hunting within and out of Minnesota are $1.1 billion on expenditures like food, lodging, and transportation each year. Direct expenditures of hunters in Minnesota are $235 million each year on trip related expenses such as food, lodging and transportation. Overall spending is averaged at $1,412 per hunter each year.
