Traveler Interest in Minnesota Increases despite Frigid January

Explore Minnesota Tourism (EMT) tracks the number of website visits, phone calls, and visits to our statewide Travel Information Centers on a monthly basis. Despite this year’s cold and snowy January, in-person visits were up 10%, phone calls were up 38% and website visits were up nearly 6% compared to January 2013, all of which suggests that interest in traveling to or within Minnesota is on the rise.
The way in which travelers are contacting EMT is also expanding. Most notably, visits to exploreminnesota.com via a mobile device were up more than 95% compared to one year ago. On social media, Explore Minnesota now has more than 87,000 Facebook fans, 10,700 Twitter followers, 3,000 Instagram followers and 2,100 Pinterest followers.
