Monthly Explore Minnesota Tourism Customer Activity Report

Release Date: Sep 18, 2012

There are indications that more consumers are seeking travel information from Explore Minnesota Tourism. Here are a few highlights from the August 2012 activity report:

Publications: Fall started off with a bang! 41,259 Fall Minnesota Explorers were sent out the door in August. This includes bulk orders to destination marketing organizations, libraries and travel information centers, as well as individual pre-orders, website requests and travel counselor activity.

Website: Once again, web traffic is significantly up this past month compared with the previous year. Visits are up more than 30% for August 2012 compared with August 2011, and page views are up more than 16%. There were 157,000 referrals, or click-throughs, from exploreminnesota.com to individual business websites last month.

e-news: Recent routine database cleanup work to remove inactive subscribers has had the expected and positive effect of greatly increasing the number of “total opens” and “click-throughs,” and helping elevate the overall score of our e-news lists.

Travel Information Centers: The state’s highway TICs served 376,215 visitors in August, 1,962,452 visitors year-to-date. For the first six months of the year, the number of visitors stopping at the state’s highway Travel Information Centers was up 5 percent.
