Festivals and Events Association To Hold Spring Conference

The Minnesota Festivals and Events Association (MFEA) will hold its annual Spring Conference on April 10 and 11 at the Alexandria Holiday Inn. MFEA brings together festival and event presenters from around the state to network and share best practices with each other. Whether you're involved with your local community festival or part of a large, multi-day event, MFEA welcomes you to join other from the industry before the busy summer season gets underway.
Registration for the MFEA Spring Conference begins at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. Two hour-long webinars begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by an evening tour of the Carlos Creek Winery. This will be a fun evening of food, wine and networking.
Thursday's registration and continental breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. The morning keynote speaker is Craig Samborski, event producer of the prestigious Tall Ships Challenge® in Duluth. He'll share his behind-the-scenes knowledge of what it takes to successfully manage one of the largest events in our region. Since weather affects virtually every Minnesota event, Angela Mens Eastman will wrap up the morning presentations with information on SkyWarn, a weather-spotting program for your event’s emergency planning.
Following lunch, Rick Freitag, media professional and communications director for Pioneer Public Television will share his insight on how to market your event through social and traditional media. Need help with press releases, developing advertising creative, media partnerships, and what the social media trends are? Don't miss Rick's presentation.
Finishing up the day will be Sylvia Allen, President of Allen Consulting in Holmdel, New Jersey. This Edina, Minnesota native has nearly 50 years of experience producing successful events all over the country. Have you heard of the Aitkin Minnesota Fish House Parade? You probably didn't know about it until after Sylvia transformed it from 500 attendees to 10,000. She will also share her vast insight on what it takes to successfully raise money through event sponsorships.
