Explore Minnesota Funding Increase Passed by Minnesota House
Release Date: Apr 16, 2013
Last night, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the Omnibus Jobs, Commerce and Housing Finance bill. This bill contains the general fund appropriation for Explore Minnesota Tourism of $14.059 million for fiscal year 2014 and $14.096 million for fiscal year 2015. This represents an increase of $5.6 million for Explore Minnesota.
Also yesterday, the Senate Environment, Economic Development and Agriculture Finance division released the committee’s budget recommendations which included $15.788 million in fiscal year 2014 and $15.788 million for fiscal year 2015 for Explore Minnesota. This represents an increase of $7.2 million for Explore Minnesota.
There is still a long way to go before the end of the session. The Senate bill needs to go through the Finance Committee and then the Senate floor. Then a conference committee would be appointed to resolve differences in the two bills, after which they are re-passed and sent to the Governor for signature.
