The 2016 Grant Guidelines are posted below. Grants are offered to Minnesota non-profit organizations formed for the primary purpose of tourism promotion and to scenic byway groups incorporated as a non-profit organization. Grants are to be used for marketing and promotional projects or to conduct research to help in this endeavor. The grant application is in a separate file and may be filled out online if you wish, however, you must still print it off and send in a hard copy by postal mail or a scanned copy via email. To qualify for a 1:1 match, you must complete and return the Affidavit which is found on the last page of the application file.

Grants awarded for 2015:
- Explore Minnesota Grants - $594,166 awarded to 90 tourism and scenic byway organizations.
Grants awarded for 2014:
- Explore Minnesota Grants - $589,190 awarded to 95 tourism and scenic byway organizations.
Crisis grants are available to communities who have experienced a crisis or disaster which could affect travelers ability to or potential interest in travel to the destination. Guidelines for these grants are found in the Grant Guidelines.
2016 Explore Minnesota Grant Program
Grants are available to use in marketing programs that will attract nonresident travelers to the state and encourage Minnesota residents to vacation within the state. Grant funding can be used for advertising, trade and sports shows, familiarization tours, direct mail, international sales missions and research.
Organizations must represent a single facet of the travel industry, or be a local organization representing all facets of the travel industry and designated as the primary tourism promotion organization for a city or community to qualify for the grants program. Scenic Byway grants are offered to non-profit scenic byway organizations or in the absence of an established organization a scenic byway application may be submitted on the byway's behalf by a non-profit tourism organization along the byway.
