Located in RJD Memorial Hardwood Forest, the Zumbro Bottoms Management Unit has 3 campgrounds; Central, North, and West, managed by Frontenac State Park. The 71 horse campsites are considered "primitive," designed to furnish only the basic needs of the camper. The campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and table. A vault toilet, a hand-pumped well, picket lines, tie rails, and manure disposal are also available. The campground allows for portable corrals.

  • Directions to Facility / Event: West: From Wabasha take Hwy 60 west 12 mi. Turn left on Co. 4 go 3 mi. to Co. 86. Turn left and follow 2.5 miles. Central: from Kellogg take Co. Rd. 18 west 7 miles, turn right on 229th Ave. and follow signs.

  • Additional Date Information: Areas open at 8 a.m. daily during the open season and close at 10 p.m. Weekend before Memorial Day and the weekend after Labor Day there is a special motorcycle event at this unit.
