The campground is considered "primitive," designed to furnish only the basic needs of the camper. The campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and table. In addition, vault toilets, garbage cans, and drinking water are available.
Tamarack Horse Campground offers 55 pull-through campsites, picket lines at each campsite, and manure bunkers. There is also a day-use rider parking lot and three picnic tables. Approximately 25 miles of horse trails exist within St. Croix State Forest.

  • Directions to Facility / Event: From Hinckley take St. Hwy. 48 east from I-35, 23 mi. to Co. Rd. 173; turn left and go north on 173, 5 mi. to Tamarack Forest Road. Follow forest road approx. 3 mi.; turn left (south) 2 mi.
