The Richard J. Dorer State Forest is classified as LIMITED. With two trail systems, the Snake Creek Management Unit has slopes that rise 300 feet above the valley floor. On the north side is a remote trail for hikers and cross-country skiers. There are five miles of trail loops, varying in length and difficulty. The second trail system is a 13.5-mile loop on the valley's south side. This is open to all trail users except four-wheel-drive vehicles. Campgrounds are available on-site and at Carley State Park.
