    This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical revusical that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space. This is its Minnesota State Mankato debut.

    An online personal ad placed by a grad student lures a mysterious journalism student to his subterranean research lab under the pretense of an evening of no strings attached sex. But when a major global catastrophic event strikes the planet, their date takes on evolutionary significance and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. This is the premiere of boom at Minnesota State Mankato.

    Individual tickets for boom are $10.00 regular, $9.00 for senior citizens, youth 16 and under and groups of 15 or more, $8.00 for current Minnesota State students. Tickets go on sale in September; visit MSUTheatre.com

    Astrological omens predict that if the son of King Basilio, Segismundo, is crowned, he will become a horrible tyrant who will bring destruction to his kingdom in this classic Spanish Renaissance drama. Basilio imprisons Segismundo for life, but decades later he decides to let his son prove his ability to defy the stars. Allowed to rule the palace, Segismundo wreaks bloody vengeance on the kingdom, confirming the prediction of the stars, and the prince must face his fate. This is its Minnesota State Mankato debut.
