A free overnight permit is required for all overnight stays. Boats located on lakes in the interior of the Kabetogama Peninsula cost $10 per day per boat. Year-RoundVoyageurs National Park is a water-based park with 218, 054 acres and more than 1/3 water. The park consists of four large lakes and 26 interior smaller lakes. Vacation opportunities range from resorts with lakeside cabins to houseboats or camping on secluded islands. Sight-see by motorboat, canoe or kayak. Enjoy swimming, fishing and hiking on more than 27 miles of trails. Summer ranger-led programs are offered from mid-June through mid-September. Equipment for fishing, camping and winter recreation can be rented locally. In winter, enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country skiing or snowmobiling on more than 110 miles of groomed trails.

Access points to the park off Highway 53 are Crane Lake, Ash River, Kabetogama Lake and Rainy Lake. Rainy Lake Visitor center is 11 miles east of International Falls on Hwy 11.Signs will show the way to visitor centers.
