Explore Pipestone and you will discover a prairie gem rich in culture and history. Visit the Pipestone National Monument, the site of the sacred soft red stone quarries used to fashion ceremonial pipes. Walk the 3/4 mile trail through the coteau prairie to view the pipestone quarries and Winnewissa Falls. Watch a live demonstration of pipes and crafts being carved by Native American Crafters.
Stroll through Pipestone's Historic District, one of Minnesota's largest, stopping along the way at the shops and boutiques that offer interesting and unique gifts.
Stop into the Pipestone County Museum and see first hand the wealth of history artfully preserved and displayed. Visit a replica of a Minnesota Fort at Fort Pipestone.
Step back in time the fourth weekend in July at the Pipestone Pow Wow and Love of the Land Rendezvous. No admission charge for either event.
Pipestone Civil War Days, held every other even year (2012), on the Hiawatha Pageant Grounds allow visitors to interact in the lives of soldiers and civilians of the Civil War Ear.
