    This is a week long celebration in honor John Latsch, a local hero from Winona's past who donated 18,000 acres of land for public use. There will be a river tour on The Cal Femling Intrepretive Floating Classroom, a guided tour of the Mississippi River backwaters, a program on the life and legacy of John Latsch, a group photo of people wearing bowties, and a beach party at Latsch Island.

    The Winona County Historical Society is celebrating John Latsch’s legacy with educational programs, an exhibit, beach party, river tours, and even bow ties! John A. Latsch purchased and donated over 18,000 acres of land for public use along the river, creating, not only John A. Latsch State Park, but much of the park and refuge system along our stretch of the Mississippi both in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
