The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center schedules 8 to 10 visual arts exhibits each year and music, dance, literary, and theater performances throughout the year. The Center includes two art galleries, a dance studio, and a gift shop featuring the work of regional artists. Summer events include the Great American Think-Off philosophy competition, the second Saturday of every June and the Whiskey Creek Film Festival, September of every year. See website for details. We are also featured as one of the Top 50 Funky towns
in Mark Cramer's nationally recognized book,
Funkytowns USA. In addition, we are one of the best
100 Small Art Towns by travel writer, John
Villani.The Regional Cultural Center is housed in a
historic 1885 brick mercantile building in the
community of New York Mills (pop. 963) located 180
miles northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The building
now houses a fine art gallery, performance space,
studio space, gift shop, and classroom areas.The
Cultural Center's innovative arts programming
includes: The Great American Think-Off, a national
philosophy contest, an ongoing music concert series,
literary service, Continental Divide Music and Film Festival, artist residency program, and various classes/workshops.

  • Directions to Facility / Event: The center is located at 24 Main Avenue North in downtown New York Mills. New York Mills is located on U.S. Highway 10 about 1.5 hours east of Fargo and 3 hours northwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota.
