    Duluth, MN 55804
    Call: (218) 726-8910

Chef in the Garden is back for September's Wednesday night event series. Glensheen is known for the incredibly, impressive mansion. However, the 12-acre estate is equally cool for reasons like our Vegetable Garden. Which cranks out over 2,000 pounds of produce every year. It gets better, all of the produce is donated to a local food shelf, Second Harvest Food Bank.

Chef in the Garden takes advantage of this tasty gift right in our back yard. A UMD Chef will showcase different recipes each week using vegetables from the Glensheen's Vegetable Garden.

They will literally pull carrots from the ground and pluck corn from its stalk to cook samples right in front of you. A Glensheen Grounds crew member will be present to answer questions specifically about Glensheen's Gardens.

Chef in the Garden is every Wednesday night in September from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Small samples will be served.

  4. Whiskey Wednesdays

    3300 London Rd
    Duluth, MN 55804
    Call: (218) 726-8910

Thanks to a partnership with Grandma's Restaurant, Whiskey Wednesdays is a collaborative event series enjoyed by both the first-time whiskey drinker and the seasoned scotch fan.

Whiskey Wednesdays are every Wednesday in the month of October from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. A cash bar with beverages available for purchase will be present.

In addition, there will be a bonfire set up by the lake, so can you can sit by the fire and sip your whiskey.

So why whiskey? Here's the tie-in to Glensheen: Chester Congdon served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1909 and 1911. This was during the movement to start prohibition, and Chester voted against prohibition in every version that came before him.

As a fun way to explore this unique part of American history and in honor of Chester's support of booze, we have created Whiskey Wednesdays.

One of the most common drinks of the time - whiskey.

While common, however, whiskey was not thought of as a sophisticated drink of the wealthy. In addition, there are persistent rumors that Clara Congdon was against booze.

Whiskey Wednesdays will take place in the newly opened Garage with seating outside by Lake Superior. We encourage you to take your beverage and explore the estate with a drink in hand.
