  1. 2017 SMSC Wacipi

    The SMSC Wacipi is a contest pow wow, where dancers compete in categories and age groups. Wacipi begins with a blessing of the dance circle. Grand entry with Veterans Color Guard carrying in the flags and eagle staff, and entrance of visiting dignitaries, tribal royalty, and the dancers by dance category. After all the dancers have entered the circle, a prayer is said. A drum group then sings a Flag Song and a Veterans Song. As a sign of respect, attendees are asked to stand, if they're able, and remove their hates. Then, the Master of Ceremonies, called "Wapaha, in Dakota, calls for intertribal dancing, allowing everyone to dance, no regalia necessary. Contest dancing and tiny tots dancing are next, with the Wapaha announcing each of the categories.

    Trick or Treat in Downtown Shakopee is held annually on Halloween and gives parents and kids a safe place to "run a muck" and get some treats as well! Grab your little ghoul or goblin and visit downtown from 1-4 pm on Saturday, October the 28th!

    Kick off the holiday season at the annual downtown Shakopee Holiday Festival! The festival includes caroling, a Shakopee Area Catholic School Choir performance, the annual countdown to the lighting of the tree, an appearance and photos with Santa Claus, and horse-drawn carriage rides! Charlie Brown and Snoopy will be there, too! This year, holiday stations hosted by downtown businesses add fun for the whole family.

    Pumpkins in the Park is a family friendly, non-scary Halloween celebration for children ages 10 and under!

    Children will enjoy a trick or treat trail, inflatable jumpies, games, beverage and cookie station, face painting and much more! Each child will also get to take home a pumpkin of their very own from our pick-a-pumpkin patch. Children will also have a chance to meet the Shakopee Fire Department!

    Don't miss out on this great community event that promises to get kids and adults alike in the Halloween Spirit! We encourage you to come in costume!

    $5.00 per child, adults are free.
