    NEWLY-MINTED SCULPTURES, HOT BANDS IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS!

    Come celebrate with Franconia Sculpture Park's artists, staff, and the community, as the park hosts the 18th Annual Art and Artists Celebration. Activities include art-making fun, performing artists, musicians, theater, poetry, and hip family fun! Parking: $5 per Car

    Franconia Sculpture Park is accessible to all, with gravel and mowed grass paths throughout the park. Golf carts are available for those who require assistance.

    The 2014 Art & Artists Celebration takes place in conjunction with a valley-wide arts and culture event, Take Me to the River. Make a weekend of it and take in the scenery and cultural activity of the scenic St. Croix River Valley. Take Me to the River is brought to you by ArtReach St. Croix.

    Have you ever wondered, “How did they make that?!” Here’s your chance to find out! Two of Franconia’s artists-in-residence will present their artistic portfolio and current project, giving you the chance to discover the concepts and meaning behind the work.

    Join us for a discussion and participate in an audience-driven conversation full of feedback, critique, and new ideas.

    Presentations start promptly at 8pm and you are welcome for dinner with resident artists and staff at 6:30pm before presentations begin. $10 donation for the delicious meal.

  4. Community Collaboration HOT Metal Pour

    Artists from around the world converge at Franconia to create cast metal sculpture and we invite the public to participate in the unique art-making process! Witness artists working a furnace that heats up to 2700 degrees F, as they pour 8,000 lbs. of red-hot molten iron throughout the day. Savage Aural Hotbed, Minneapolis’s found-object percussion band, performs three pulsating sets throughout the day. Bring the family and make a day of it!

  5. Community mold-making for the HOT Metal Pour

    Make your mold during a workshop and have it cast during the Hot Metal Pour on August 2nd! You’ll create a unique relief sculpture by carving your design into a mold that will then be cast in iron.     Come be a part of the fun and hands-on creativity! During each workshop, students spend the afternoon creating sculptures with the assistance of Franconia staff and resident artists. We welcome all youth ages 4 to 18, limit of 30 students per class.

    Franconia’s summer-long music series is back! Bring a blanket, grab a bite or beverage from onsite vendors, and enjoy the afternoon of song and dance in the idyllic Earthen Amphitheater. Participate in an artist-led tour during the band breaks to learn more about Franconia’s exhibition and programs. All events are family friendly and open to the public.
