The Fires of 1918 was the largest natural disaster in MN history and the 2nd largest fire disaster in the Nation, called 'the forgotten fire' because of ongoing WWI. Over 1,500 sq mi, 4,089 homes and 35 towns burned causing over 450 deaths in 5 counties from Pine Co on the south of Lake Superior to north of Duluth.

Use Exit #214, turn left into Moose Lake. Follow highway to second stop light, turn left on Highways 73 & 27 and go about 1/2 mile. Museum and Depot are on the left by the ATV trail.
