Fiesta on the Prairie
April 15, crafts, food & music begin at 4 pm. Family dance at 9 pm.
Craft a pinata, enjoy traditional Mariachi and Mexican folk music, authentic cuisine all free of charge. Then gather the family, young and old, for a fun-filled evening at the family dance. Location: Sahlstrom Conference Center Eagles' Nest, Brown Dining Room and Bede Ballroom at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
Visit the new Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuge (TNC & USFWS), the largest prairie and wetland restoration project in U.S. history. Reserve a viewing blind on the native "booming grounds" of the greater prairie chicken. Witness the elaborate dance of the male and listen for the booming calls that can be heard for over a mile! Discover more about the biological and ecological significance of the prairie and its wetlands. (To reserve a viewing blind, call 218-281-4320 Monday-Friday between 8 am and 4:30 pm)

As you sit comfortably in the restored beauty of the Kiehle Auditorium surrounded by its impressive WPA era period murals, you will thrill to performances of traditional Mexican folkloric dance in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo!
April 16, 10 am – 2 pm
Take an historic walking tour of downtown Crookston. Walk through history with a period costumed guide. Learn about the early days when Crookston was the "Queen City". Rediscover and hear ways to redevelop and revitalize historic Crookston. Highlights on the tour include Widman's Candy Shop, and the beautiful gothic Cathedral Church with its rare three spires.
