The Ultimate Fall Challenge: Sever's Corn Maze
|

Before heading into Sever’s Corn Maze near Shakopee, there are a few things you need to do. One: hone your directional skills. Two: pack a few snacks (you never know). Three: play a few games of Pac-Man, both because it’s fun and because, well, it’s a maze and therefore kind of counts as preparation, right?
Just think of Sever’s as Minnesota's annual kinder, milder, you're-gonna-live-no-matter-what Hunger Games. You see, you do get a map, and clues—and there's even a guide or two in the maze if you need help. But that doesn't mean it's not a challenge—or that you'll skip bragging rights at the end.
Official rules on the Sever's website state:
This year’s challenge will have you looking for six pictures of “Farmer Sever” and reading fun facts on the 26 signs throughout the maze. Just follow your map through the maze and find the six signs with “Farmer Sever” from A to Z. As you discover “Sever,” check the boxes on your sheet by the letter to show the locations where you found him. The signs will also help you locate where you are in the maze. At the end of the maze, go to the red Maze Challenge Tent and fill out the sightings sheet marking the letters where you found “Farmer Sever.” Each correct entry will be eligible for our grand prize drawing for a $500 Visa Gift Card.
Main challenge aside, kids can also climb on tire mountain, jump on a huge pillow, swim in the corn pool, ride down the giant slide, shoot pumpkin-blasters (and purchase pumpkins for home), and wander through the straw bale maze. Plus: watch pigs race, take a barnyard tour, listen to live music, and walk down Scarecrow Lane, where you can see (and vote on) all the scarecrow submissions from local Boy and Girl Scouts. And of course there's food and drinks (no foraging for sustenance, here).
A few tips:
You save $2 if you buy tickets online in advance (4 and older $13; 3 and under free).
Bring a flashlight if you're attending at night!
Tickets are only sold up until 1.5 hours 'til closing time.
No pets allowed.
"May the odds be ever in your favor!"
