What's New at Mall of America
The largest shopping and entertainment complex in the country, Mall of America always has something new to impress first-time guests and frequent visitors alike. New stores, celeb-studded events and an on-site hotel are among the many highlights the mall has in store this season.
A good pair of jeans never goes out of style, and three denim-focused shops -- Madewell, G-Star Raw and Silver Jeans Co. -- recently opened on the mall's south end. Known for its celebrity-approved sheepskin boots, UGG Australia also sells comfy apparel and stylish accessories. Other newcomers include PINK (Victoria's Secret's teen brand), Live Love Dream (owned by Aeropostale), New Era (pro sports apparel) and Free People, a hip women's fashion brand.
Radisson Blu hotel
Opened in spring 2013, Radisson Blu is the only hotel attached to the mall via skyway and features 500 fashion-inspired rooms, a fitness center, indoor pool and on-site restaurant. Ask about specials like the Girlfriend Getaway Package, which includes welcome martinis and package delivery from the mall to your room, and the American Girl Package, complete with a doll-size travel bed to take home.
Events & celebrity appearances
At Nickelodeon Universe, a new light show can be seen from all four levels of the mall seven nights a week. Upcoming celebrity appearances include Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bill Nye the Science Guy and British pop group Little Mix. The Easter Bunny will be on-site for pictures starting March 29 - April 20.
Opening in February, "Barbie The Dreamhouse Experience" is a life-size version of the iconic doll's house, complete with pink elevators and a closet to be envied. The exhibition will be at the mall for two years.
A pair of local establishments are coming back to life at the mall this summer: Minneapolis' former 400 Club will be reborn as a live music venue, restaurant and museum; and Hard Rock Cafe, formerly located in downtown Minneapolis, is expected to open its newest location.
