By Explore Minnesota Tourism

Local and Organic DiningZagat, one of the most respected restaurant guides in the world, declared 10 Twin Cities restaurants as the area's best in its 2014 guidebook. The ratings are based on feedback from everyday diners regarding the quality of the food, decor and service, as well as price. This year's top 10 restaurants are:

  1. Restaurant Alma (Minneapolis): BIlling itself as "casual fine dining," Restaurant Alma uses local and organic ingredients and regularly rotates its menu to reflect what's in season.

  2. La Belle Vie (Minneapolis): This French-Mediterranean restaurant holds a James Beard Award and has been recognized by national magazines including Gourmet and Food & Wine.

  3. Lake Elmo Inn (Lake Elmo): This classic spot has been a local staple for nearly 30 years, serving steaks, seafood and other upscale comfort foods.

  4. Lucia's (Minneapolis): Another longtime favorite, Lucia's works closely with local farmers on its small, weekly changing menu.

  5. The Capital Grille (Minneapolis): Part of a national chain, this theater district steakhouse is known for its dry-aged porterhouse, seafood dishes and extensive wine list.
