    Crawl for a Cure is an annual event held at Minnesota's first Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area in Gilbert. Families, couples and individuals who love their off-road vehicles (any type can participate) take part in two days of riding, an evening get-together at Sherwood Forest Campground in Gilbert, and a whole lot of fun. All proceeds go to the National Muscular Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter.

    The long weekend of events pay tribute to the longtime town doctor who enjoyed a short stint in Major League Baseball, unbeknownst to many he served. This served as the inspiration for a character of the same name in the W.P. Kinsella novel “Shoeless Joe,” which became the major motion picture “Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Costner, where Doc was portrayed by Burt Lancaster. Parades, games, a 5K fun run/walk and more make this celebration fun for all ages. ALSO being held is the Chisholm All Class Reunion.     The Eveleth 4th of July celebration is fun for all ages with a street dance on July 3rd from 8:30pm-1am and fireworks "Thunder over Eveleth" at 10:15pm. On July 4th, there is a parade at 9:30am with kids games and races following.

    Tour an active mine in this 2-hour adventure onto Hibbing Taconite's operation. Board the bus from Minnesota Discovery Center. A tour guide will join you for the ride among huge production trucks, near giant shovels, and over minelands. This tour is for ages 10 and up. Cost of $13 per person includes admission to Minnesota Discovery Center. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 218-254-7959.

    Two days of dirt track racing on the fastest 3/8-mile oval around! This annual event is the granddaddy of all races at the Hibbing Raceway. Watch four classes compete on a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval. Payout is more than $40,000. Watch some great dirt track racing on the Range!

    Merritt Days is a week long celebration that offers a wide variety of activities for all ages. There is a week long scavenger hunt w/cash prizes, old fashioned band concert in the city park, rigatoni feed, bean bag tournaments, live music, softball tournaments, kids activities, bingo, 5K, 7K, 10K walk or run, pancake feed, parade, ethnic foods and so much more.
