Year-RoundA haven for migrating birds and waterfowl: 150-acre cattail marsh, woodland and restored prairie. Three miles of wheelchair accessible trails. Cross-country skiing, rental skis, & snowshoe tours available. The interpretive center features interactive displays, live animals, meeting space and professional naturalist staff. Weekend family programs. Summer school classes for children 4-12. Surrounded by freeways and close to the international
airport, it is surprising that on its 3 miles of
hiking trails one can find over 200 species of birds.
An interpretive building houses exhibits that
interpret the wildlife typical for the area. Live
animals on display include snakes and fish.
Programming occurs year-round for schools, scouts and
families. Members of Friends of Wood Lake receive
program and merchandise discounts. Building rental
available. Trails available for hiking and cross-
country skiing. Snowshoes available only with
naturalist. No biking or pets are allowed. Large event
public programs include, Halloween and Earth Day/Arbor
day. Call to receive a free seasonal brochure.
