Year-RoundThis park is comprised of the largest remnant of Big Woods vegetation in Minnesota. The rolling hills and valleys are traversed by Prairie Creek with its picturesque waterfalls. The Big Woods is reflective of the central hardwood community during presettlement times, containing sugar maple, basswood, oak, ash, and ironwood trees, over 100 varieties of wildflowers, and many varieties of ferns and mushrooms.

From Twin Cities to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park: Go South on I-35. Exit 69, (MN 19) into Northfield. Turn right onto MN Highway 3. Turn left onto MN Highway 246. Follow 246 approx 11 miles to 4-way stop. Turn right onto 29.
