West Metro

subregion_Metro.jpg The West Metro area centers around Lake Minnetonka, the largest in the Twin Cities area. It’s a favorite for boating, sailing and fishing. Several boat excursions, including an early 1900s trolley boat, cruise the lake. Stroll through the beautiful, lakeside Noerenberg Memorial Gardens.

On the shore, charming Wayzata and Excelsior are known for their shops and cafes. There are several regional parks in the area. Golfers can choose from a dozen fine courses, and cyclists enjoy the views on the Dakota and Lake Minnetonka regional trails. For evening entertainment, take in a comedy at the Plymouth Playhouse or Old Log Theater; families enjoy children’s productions at the Stages Theatre Company.

Waconia, named for its neighboring lake, is a popular fishing and sailing destination. Enjoy its specialty shops and a nearby winery. To the north, Albertville, Rogers and Buffalo are all popular shopping getaways.
