Say Cheers to Harvest Season

carloscreek_3533.jpgMinnesota’s fall harvest not only promises delicious food to eat, but also tasty things to drink. Wineries across the state celebrate this fruitful time of year with grape stomps, harvest festivals and tasting events, and visitors are invited to get in on the fun.

Two of the biggest grape stomps take place at Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria and Morgan Creek Vineyards in New Ulm. Both events feature spirited grape-stomping competitions, live entertainment, food and plenty of wine. Grape stomps are also held at Richwood Winery near Detroit Lakes, Indian Island Winery near Mankato, Glacial Ridge Winery near Willmar and Crow River Winery in Hutchinson.

In the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Alexis Bailly Vineyard in Hastings has two special events in November: the Nouveau Harvest Festival celebrates the seasonal release of its Nouveau wine, and guests can learn about pairing wine with food at the November wine pairing event. Chisago City’s WineHaven hosts its annual German Federweisser Festival in October, and the Cheese and Chocolate Weekend in November.
