    The community comes together to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season and partake in the true meaning of giving. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be present to take pictures with the children and to listen to their holiday wishes. In the evening, the town will be lit up by an array of holiday floats and the excitement of Walker's Festival of Lights parade.

    For over 30 years, and for three days every February, crowds that are more than 10 times the population of tiny Walker, Minn. (pop. 969) gather on Minnesota’s third-largest lake (112,000 acres), Leech Lake, for an ice fishing festival named for one of the ugliest bottom-dwelling fish, the eelpout. In a state where it is common to embrace the quirky and find great fun in the most unlikely circumstances and weather conditions, this festival is pure Minnesota fun.

    Walker Bay Days is a family outdoor event held in the Walker City Park each August. Saturday activities will include the "Big Dig" for children, volleyball and tournaments, and a 5K walk/run.
