23 of the Best Twin Cities Boutiques
By Devon Cox
Wondering where to find amazing shopping around Minneapolis-St. Paul? Go beyond the mall. These six shopping districts have what you’re looking for, from small, sustainable brands to big-time luxury.
SAINT PAUL
Idun
Dahlia Brue’s slice-of-Brooklyn-in-Saint-Paul boutique is airy, uber-curated, and carries brands you can’t find anywhere else in the Twin Cities, like Jesse Kamm, Baserange, and 7115 by Szeki
BlackBlue
One of the few boutiques that caters to men, BlackBlue is where the “fewer, better” set gets their oiled deck jackets, Danish-made sweaters, and hard-wearing denim from brands like Samurai Jeans and Freenote Cloth.
Primp
Primp Boutique was founded on the principle that looking good shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. This everything-is-under-$100 shop has multiple locations across the Twin Cities, but the Selby and Dale store was the first.
Atelier957
Owned by a pair of Kiev-born sisters, ATELIER957 is a place where directional fashion is not limited to size-zero 25-year-olds. With a focus on carrying small brands from around the world, it's a place where any woman can find high-quality, unique pieces.
MINNEAPOLIS NORTH LOOP
Parc
Wondering where Minneapolis' cool girls get their Donni slip skirts, Mijeong Park sweaters, and Paloma Wool mules? It’s Parc, where an ever-rotating selection of minimal-chic clothes and accessories attracts a loyal and dedicated fan base.
MartinPatrick3
Buy a suit, drink a whisky, get a haircut. You can do all three at the aptly-named MartinPatrick3, where quiet luxury brands like Brunello Cucinelli mix with downtown-cool labels like Etro. While the store originally focused on menswear, they’ve now expanded into interiors, fragrance, and women’s clothing from high-end houses like Rosie Assoulin and Toteme.
Queen Anna House of Fashion
In addition to legacy labels like Diane Von Furstenberg and eco-concious designers like Laude, Nicole Jenning’s Queen Anna makes a point of stocking Black and AAPI-owned brands and a wide range of sizes. Come for the Good American denim, stay for the ethos of philanthropy and social responsibility.
Statement
While you will certainly find wearable but elevated brands like Z Supply and Michael Stars at Statement, their calling card is a large selection of local products, including buzzy jewlery designer Larissa Loden and Minnesota-themed graphic tees from Northmade.
Requisite
Step into Libby Coyne’s Requisite, and you’ll find polished women flipping through the racks for this season’s directional workwear from brands like Anine Bing and Max Mara, as well as sophisticated party looks from Rhode and Ciao Lucia.
MINNEAPOLIS NORTHEAST
Everyone
Everyone (implying all genders welcome) carries unisex, minimalist styles from Scandi-cool and Japanese brands like Samsøe Samsøe, Beams+, and Nanga. After you’ve picked up your new favorite piece, wind around the back alley to grab a coffee from co-owned Harmony.
Piff
Streetwear labels like Aime Leon Dore and sneakers from New Balance and Nike mix with high-end designer items from Gucci and Balengiaca at Northeast’s ineffible Piff.
Hazel + Rose
Ethical and sustainable fashion is front and center at the calming Hazel + Rose, where you can find knits from Spanish brand Cordera alongside L.A. casualwear from Meals and jewlery from local Minneapolis designers like Riley Haus.
MINNEAPOLIS UPTOWN
Scout
Scout embodies the “outdoorsy chic” style of many Minnestoan men, who pull up to the shop in their bike-rack-fitted Subarus to stock up on consciously made flannels and bags from brands like Topo Designs.
Covered
Ever wondered where the Twin Cities girls are going to get their ripped Agolde denim and leather blazers? It’s Covered, which has been carrying a mix of high-end and high-street brands from Line & Dot to Dolce Vita since 2006.
EDINA
Grethen House
Understated luxury is the name of the game at Grethen House, where well-heeled women go to shop selections from upscale fashion-girl brands like Nili Lotan, Ganni, and Peter Cohen.
bumbershute
bumbershute’s carefully curated storefront is full of well-constructed day-to-night garments from Smythe, Veronica Beard, and Rachel Comey, for the perfect undone-but-not-unpolished look.
Bluebird Boutique
Holding down 50th and France since 2004, Bluebird Boutique carries a wide range of contemporary brands, so there's always something for everyone: from ruffled LoveShackFancy dresses for your TikTok-obsessed teen to buttery-soft Vince cashmere for your return-to-office wardrobe.
June
While technically a high-end consignment store, June is less dig-through-to-find-your-bargain-treasure and more mint-condition runway looks at palatable price points, like a new-with-tags Gucci dress for under $1,000.
EXCELSIOR
Ace General Store
The scent of tobacco and leather permeates the pint-sized Ace General Store, where a small selection of men’s clothing from brands like Brooklyn-based Corridor mix with Stagg coffee supplies and jars of Momofuki chili crunch.
Golden Rule
Carrying a mix of sustainable brands like Le Bonne Shoppe and quality vintage selections, Golden Rule is the sibling store to Ace General, and also carries apothecary items, accessories, and temptingly Instagrammable home goods.
Gray Home + Lifestyle / Pip & Pal
Run by a mother-daughter duo, Gray Home and Lifestyle carries beautiful, finely made selections from brands like Clare V. and The Great alongside luxurious, neutral-toned home goods. Their choosy aesthetic extends into adjoining children’s boutique Pip & Pal, where you can spoil your favorite little person with made-in-Portugla knitwear and hand-sewn stuffies.
Brightwater
Bill Damberg, owner of Brightwater, prides himself on carrying clothes you’ll want to “repair, not replace”. Featuring hardworking, heritage brands like Barbour, Red Wing, and Dale of Norway, Brightwater is the perfect place to invest in your next “forever” piece.
