Water, Water Everywhere

Voyageurs National Park calls to hikers, stargazers and kayakers seeking the adventurous side of travel. ("Voyageur"  means traveler in French.) The landscape here is breathtaking: Water makes up more than one-third of the park's 218,000 acres, and for most of the year, the park's interior is accessible only by boat. (Or by snowmobile in winter.)

Check the stories below to learn how to rent a houseboat, take an island-hopping tour, or tackle more than 27 miles of scenic trails, hidden waterfalls and ancient petroglyphs. And be sure to browse the Voyageurs Conservancy for details on the park's 50th anniversary and special programming including an open house, International Dark Sky Week initiatives, May migration meet-ups and more.
