ABOUT THE FILM

Growing up in a home filled with his father’s tango devotion, Moti Cohen (Oliver Kolker) as a teen in the 70’s, embraced rock music and make it his living. When he lost a crucial musical contract just as he was about to make his big break, his confidence and instinct for the next big hit song started eluding him, just like his family life and his money. Now when his ex-wife is ready to move to Israel with their son, Moti struggles to afford his son's bar mitzvah and cannot keep up with the rapid changes occurring in the music industry. The chance encounter with Bartolo (“Chino” Laborde), a stuttering car mechanic with a surprising musical secret and the opportunity to do a last job with his former record rock label may be the struck of luck Moti’s desperately needs.

Set against the backdrop of Buenos Aires, I Had the Heart (Tuve el corazón) explores the cultural tensions between traditional tango and the rising influence of rock music, and how these two genres, seemingly at odds, intertwine and have greatly influenced each other. Oliver Kolker leads and directs a great cast: renown singer Walter "El Chino" Laborde who fills his Bartolo with captivating tango passion, the late Claudio Rissi - playing the bandoneon, Victoria Onetto, Mario Alarcón; and famous cumbia singer and songwriter, Karina La Princesita in her screen debut. I Had the Heart directed by Kolker together with Hernán Findling, is an unforgettable tale of second chances and the transformative power of music, fueled by the sweeping emotions and rhythms of tango with a refreshing dash of rock and humor.
