About

Come enjoy a magical winter night under the moon and stars at Lake Shetek State Park. Let the glow of luminaries guide you on two different paths. One path is about a half mile round trip through the Oak Woods Campground, on plowed park roads. Another path is about a 1-mile round trip through the woods and along the lakeshore from the Oak Woods Campground to the Lake Shetek Monument, on a variety of surfaces with hard packed snow. Then stop by the Interpretive Center to grab a cup of hot cocoa and a cookie while soaking up the warmth of a crackling campfire. Free-will donations go to support the Friends of Lake Shetek group. Dressing in layers and sturdy boots is recommended. If snow conditions allow, bring your snowshoes. Event will begin at the Interpretive Center. Park Staff will be present to direct you. The Ranger Station will be open for purchasing vehicle permits the night of the event. The event is free to attend, but a vehicle permit is required for all motor vehicles entering the park. It is $7 for a day or $35 for a 12-month permit. Permits can be purchased online or at the park office.
Program will be canceled in the event of poor weather conditions.
