Come enjoy an evening in the park by candlelight and moonlight. Hike, snowshoe, or ski the 1-mile trail around Cataract Lake where you will be guided by the almost full moon, and lanterns. The 1.5-mile Hallaway Hill trail will also be illuminated for hikers and snowshoers. Once you have trekked to your hearts content, come warm up by the campfire or enjoy chili and desserts and refreshments in the Trail Center or Picnic Shelter. All provided by the Friends of Maplewood.

There is no cost for this event, but a Minnesota state parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park ($7/day or $35/year).

SAVE TIME! Get your vehicle permit in advance. Visit mndnr.gov/reservations, log in (or create an account), click on "vehicle permit," select a duration of "one-day" ($7) or "year-round" ($35), and continue as directed. You'll receive an email with a permit that can be printed and displayed in your vehicle during your visit.

SKIERS: Those age 16 and older will also need the Great Minnesota Ski Pass if they plan to cross-country ski. The Great Minnesota Ski Pass ($10 for a day, $25 for one season or $70 for three seasons) allows cross-country skiers to access all ski trails in state parks or forests or on grant-in-aid trails. Daily ski passes can be purchased at state parks. Daily and annual ski passes can be purchased by phone at 888-665-4236 or on the ski pass website (www.dnr.state.mn.us/skiing/skipass).

This event will happen regardless of snow conditions on the trails. So come dressed according to the weather. In the event of poor weather or wind conditions, this event may be cancelled.
