Rhythmically Speaking returns to the Southern Theater for their 17th annual Summer show!

• When: August 14-16 @ 7:30pm | August 16 @ 2pm (Pay What You Can) + Jazz Dance Films Screening: August 16 @ 4pm (ticket holders for stage show get in free!)

Groovers & Makers is Rhythmically Speaking dance company's newly rebranded annual Summer production, which this year includes a screening of exciting jazz dance films! Though the format and name of this program has shifted throughout the years, it has always delivered fresh, vibrant takes on staged works inspired by jazz and American social dance ideas from exciting movers and shakers in the field. The production continues our tradition of commissioning the creation of new work by local choreographers while providing opportunities for dance artists who are based outside of Minnesota to show their work here. The 17th installment of our annual Summer program features a cohort of excellent artists serving up rhythm-driven dance that will move you:

Choreographers:

• Cynthia Gutierrez (Visiting Artist – Spokane, WA)
• Erinn Liebhard (RS Artistic & Executive Director)
• Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies (Local Artist)

From MacKenzie-Margulies’ contemporary concert dance take on swing and Coleman’s vocally-dynamic approach to grounded and driven jazz, to Gutierrez’s Latin jazz vibes and Liebhard’s groove and improvisation-forward perspective, the production will run a gamut of feelings while showing a breadth of what ‘jazz and American social dance-inspired’ can mean. Dancers: Nieya Amezquita, Malia Craft, Jayde Grass, Doug Hooker, Amy Jones, Sara Karimi, Kelli Miles, Erinn Liebhard, Jake Nehrbass, Kathleen Pender, and Betsy Schaefer Roob Screen ’25 Artists: Kimberly Cooper, Daniel Gurton, Cara Hagan, Martin and Facundo Lombard, Anthony Morigerato, Erika Randall, Vanessa Sanchez, Justin Stephenson, Sierra Tanji, and Karen Wood Looking to reinvigorate your spirit?
