About
The Scarlet Goodbye is the creative lovechild of long-time Minnesota musicians Dan Murphy (of Soul Asylum and Golden Smog) and Jeff Arundel (an independent singer/songwriter).
This alt-rock duo is the result of a chance meeting between Murphy and Arundel – an unlikely pairing, given Murphy’s edgy rock energy and Arundel’s mellow singer-songwriter vibes.
This chance meeting led to an attic studio in St. Paul, Minnesota, where they hunkered down and created the LP “Hopes Eternal”, a unique and original blend of both artists—part Rolling Stones, part Townes Van Zandt. Hopes Eternal went on to be one the best-reviewed records of 2023.
After many successful live shows across the Midwest, they went back to the studio & created a second album, “El Camino Adios,” which was released in March 2025.
