This class is an introduction to forging while creating a wall hook. Starting with a section of wrought iron, students will learn drawing out, tapering, scrolling and twisting to make a hook. Wrought iron is a traditional material that was used for a long time before steel became common. This class will introduce you to working with a coal forge, wrought iron, hammer, anvil and tongs to perform many of the basic blacksmith operations. No experience is required, all tools and materials will be provided.
